Hello, Bonjour!
I am Gaetan Marmasse.
I was born in France (sometime in the 80’s) and moved to the US in 2011 to expand my career in tech.
I have always been very manual and attracted to beautiful lines in furniture and simple objects.
Wood is my material of choice but what I like about designing and building furniture is that it allows for exploring other materials like metal, glass or resins.
Depending on what I build, I have 2 very distinct and opposite processes.
free flow, no net, just a napkin sketch of what I have in mind and I just start building
a very thoroughly planned build process that involves creating a model of the piece on the computer and producing technical drawings and cuts for an optimized execution
Regardless of the process I love the fact that everything I do is unique, almost like a prototype.
And “why 42?” you may ask. Well, simply because I am also kind of a nerd, and 42 is the answer to life, the universe and everything according to real science! I’ll let you do the digging ;)
I am currently working on personal projects as well as a few commission projects, so I am able to keep trying new design ideas and turning them into real-life things.
